The Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a high school
student who inadvertently writes himself to the life span of an overdue
classmate. This critically acclaimed musical is all about friendship,
honesty, despair and the lengths we go to become significant to
somebody.
Dear Evan Hansen New York's storyline
When high school student Connor goes off, his parents, Cynthia and
Larry, locate a letter Connor wrote to his beloved friend, Evan Hansen.
There is only 1 problem: Connor and Evan were not close friends. Evan is
a troubled child with an emotionally distant family, who composed the
notice himself as a treatment exercise for over some of his social
anxiety and awkwardness.
Regrettably, Cynthia and Larry, together with their charming girl, Zoe,
are convinced their kid had a bond with Evan. And instead of telling
them the facts, Evan goes alongside the fiction to attempt and match the
family. Soon he is composing a lot more bogus letters from Connor to
himself, to cement the lie he is telling. Evan should locate a way to
come clear, while maintaining everybody's feelings and his own standing.
The two Dear Evan Hansen's lyrics and songs were composed by the musical
theater composing team Pasek and Paul, who also collaborated on the
musicals James and the Giant Peach, Dogfight and A Christmas Story. Dear
Evan Hansen was composed in reaction to the passing of one of Benj
Pasek's buddies while he was in high school.
The musical debuted in 2015 in the Arena Stage at Washington, D.C.. It
premiered on Broadway at November 2016, also started in December 2016 in
the Music Box Theatre.
Dear Evan Hansen has met with significant critical acclaim. The series
has won the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award. The first Washington,
D.C. manufacturing won three Helen Hayes Awards in 2016, and its own
off-Broadway run won two Obie awards.

After Dear Evan Hansen transferred to Broadway, it kept much of the
throw out of its first off-Broadway debut. Ben Platt, renowned for his
character as Elder Cunningham at The Book of Mormon, starred as Evan
Hansen. Laura Dreyfuss played with Zoe Murphy, Evan Hansen's love
interest and Connor's sister; Dreyfuss is famous for enjoying Madison
McCarthy about the hit TV series Glee.
